Back to school BASH!

Well, I had good intentions of taking pictures of the invitations we gave out,
but we got so excited about inviting people, that I gave them all away!...
so you'll just have to imagine. They were really cute. I pasted the invite on the outside of a brown paper lunch sack (and finally found some little apple stickers for a little embellishment) and stuck a red, shiny apple in the sack and folded the top over. They were WAY cute and it was easy for the girls to help me put them together...

We had about 50 people in our yard...it was a great turnout!
Lots of yummy treats; music; dancing and games!

These are the apple cupcakes that my sister, Shaina, and I attempted to make. I was frustrated because we couldn't get the food coloring to turn RED! We added black a little at a time, but it ended up turning the frosting a mauve color...and we could NOT get it bright red! I think we ended up pouring the WHOLE bottle of red food coloring in there! (Sorry parents...!) We finally decided that we needed help, and went to the professionals. Who knew that Michaels craft store had a whole section just on cake decorating?? We bought the "RED RED" food coloring and finally got rid of most of the gray from the black, but still not perfection...oh well. Everyone gets it, right?

Oh, and I found these awesome apple plates at DI...SO cute!

This is our "Guess How Many?" Jar...
I put a bunch of school supplies and candy inside.
Next time, I would actually have a few smaller jars of guess how many
so we could have more than one winner...

My brother brought his speakers over for the music
and parked his awesome truck on our front lawn...

Anyone need a pencil?? Or an apple for the teacher?

We played a bunch of different sidewalk games;
basketball; badmitton; and volleyball...

All the kids loading up on those skittles and cookies!

Lots of visiting...

We partied into the night!
I think the "Chicken Dance" was the most favorite of the night!

I can't wait to make this an annual end of summer bash!
We have the perfect yard for it this year...
Hopefully we can do it again next year!
BYE summer! HELLO school and new adventures!
