New Glasses!

We're sitting in church (in the very back) and Brynley tells me that she can't read the hymn #'s behind the piano...I just had a feeling...sure enough, she is near-sighted and needs glasses...in 1st grade. She was SO excited! I wasn't so excited since I started wearing glasses in 4th grade that were twice the size they should have been, and I had not-so-fond memories of:

...teasing (just a little...)

...broken glasses that my dad super-glued back together (thanks dad...but can we say "nerDY")

...walking in somewhere warm from somewhere cold (fogged vision)

...having no kind of fun in the rain

BUT, I still tried to be excited for her... :) I let her pick them out, with a little persuasion from me...I was a little stressed that I might have let her have TOO much say...and I was worried about the reaction she would get at school from the other kids. (PLEASE no teasing!)

I asked her how her day went at school and what everyone thought about her glasses. She told me that she felt kind of "lonely" because she was the only one with glasses. I reassured her though and said that most of the kids probably WANT glasses, but can't get them... (she agreed with me). They thought she was a new student...lol

She's done really great at wearing them all day long, and is careful with setting them down the right way when she takes them off at night...

They are adorable. My Tyler has had them for a year now. It's hard. I got mine in 3rd grade.

She looks so cute!!! Wouldn't it be nice if we could all have perfect eyes. I get so frustrated with my contacts and glasses.

Very cute! Ryan has really bad eyesight so I'm sure it's only a matter of time for our kids to get glasses too! At least they are a lot more stylish then they were!!

Those are so cute. They make way cuter glasses now. I remember when you got glasses, I wanted glasses so bad. And next thing I knew I needed glasses. I was totally excited because I got to be like you. :)

I remember feeling nerdy too, mine were always big and thick and I have some very bad memories growing up with glasses. It's hard for kids. I was stressed when Tyson, my oldest, got glasses last year. But kids seem to roll with it better now. I think the kids look cute, so it's not a big deal.

She looks darling.

Brenley...
Well my little niece, it runs in the family... and your new glasses are just the cutest ever! I wish I looked as cute in mine. Bryan wears his all the time (even though he only needs them for reading).... and so many kids in his class wear them. (after about 3rd grade it is so common!) David wishes he could wear them :)

Her glasses are so cute. I think that kids in glasses makes them look as smart as they actually are. Sometimes, we don't give them enough credit!
