Brooklyn turns 5!

Brooklyn was so excited for her birthday...we were counting down the days. September 9th was the big day. She was supposed to be born Sept 2nd, but she decided to test my patience (which she still does every day) and was finally induced a week late. BUT, she was the easiest labor of them all...only 6 hours...and she weighed 8lb 12oz. Such a cute, chunky, squeezable baby. She was smiling at a month old.
She has always been a very vocal girl...she started singing and bopping even before she could talk. There is never a day that goes by that we don't have a performance from her. Piano, singing, dancing, acting, etc. She has such talent!
Brooklyn loves friends...she is very social and outgoing most of the time (and she's very strong-minded). She's also very observant. She's also very flirtatious, (which has got me a little worried...lol), and loves to put on make-up. I told her we only wear make-up on "special" days. So every day she asks me if it is a special day...K, so I should have told her "only on Halloween." :) She loves glitter, princesses, pink, horses, barbies, dressing up, coloring, painting, and just about anything girlie...She loves our cats (we have 2 of them now...one just kind of showed up at our house). She also loves bugs and grandma's snails...She doesn't mind picking them up and getting slimed. She helps our neighbors collect eggs from their chickens. She told me that they were riding on their goats too (greaat)...I went over there the other day, and she was in the chicken coup, carrying one of the chickens around in her arms. She could be a regular farm girl...I'm not too excited about the feathers, mud and chicken poop that get stuck to the bottom of her shoes though.
There is never a dull moment in our house with our little Brooklyn around. She sure keeps us on our toes. She really tries to listen and obey. We are still working on it, but we're making progress. She likes to please and loves to learn. She was so proud of herself when she started reading some small spelling words that Brynley brought home from school. We were all excited for her. Since she missed kindergarten by a week, she'll have the whole year to learn to read. She will be starting preschool in January. I'm sure she'll love it.
We got together at my parent's house for Brooklyn's party. Sean, Heidi, Dane, Shaina and my parents were there. Brooklyn was so excited for every gift she received. The look on her face is priceless. She thought it was funny that some of the gifts were from "the kitties" and from grandma and grandpa's dogs.
Oh! And how could I forget the most exciting part of the day?! Brooklyn got her ears pierced! She actually had them pierced when she was 3 (she asked for them), but we lost one about 6 months later, and the next day the hole had filled in. SO...I asked her if she wanted to get her ears pierced for her birthday. She was so excited...You should have seen the earrings that she wanted to put in her little ears! lol...Big 'ole shiny, dangle earrings. She finally resorted to some smaller, sparkly pink ones and we sat her up in the big birthday chair. The lady piercing that day was awesome and made it such a great experience for Brooklyn. She had Brooklyn sit on my lap and did one ear at a time. Brynley was wide-eyed; watching with her hands over her mouth. I told her to go look at some earrings so she wouldn't scare Brooklyn. We did the first ear, and Brooklyn just laughed and said that she "didn't know it was going to do that." The second ear she gave the same reaction...no crying, no tears! Only smiling...she was so proud. I was so proud of her. The lady who pierced them said she was amazed. She'd never seen a 5 year old so brave. (Brooklyn didn't cry when she got her kindergarten shots either). She must have a high tolerance for pain. Now Addyson wants earrings. She was making "marks" on her ears that night...going around saying, "ears! ears!"
So Happy Birthday to Brooklyn! YAY!

This is "pre" blow...
