Plane= too expensive
Car= sold to the highest bidder
Train= option 3...
We are becoming experienced riders.
Utah, here we come!
We gave daddy lots of hugs and kisses and waved goodbye from the window...
as you may see, Addyson might have had too much sugar right from the start, lol...
Activities included: coloring; listening to music; looking out the window; going to the bathroom; eating snacks...and eating more snacks; a little whining; naps and talking to interesting people on the train.
A nice person loaned us their laptop so the girls could watch a movie right before bedtime...
LIFESAVER! (They watched the "Yellow Submarine" lol)
Donner Lake
The train actually arrived in Provo on time... 5:30am
(Good thing my parents are early birds, lol)
One thing about Amtrak, is that they want you OFF the train...no dilly-dallying.
See how the conductor is practically pulling the girls off? lol
The girls squealed with excitement when they saw grandma and grandpa and Uncle Dane
Train Depo in Provo
We made it...and survived!
Even scored a free dinner for everyone on the train!
(and our 2 suitcases; 2 duffle bags; backpack and double jogging stroller made it safely off the train too)
Look at those BIG grins!

Oh wow! I'm so glad you survived and I hope you're having a great adventure in Utah!
I love trains! But have never been on one in the US. How would you rate it versus a standard roadtrip from Cali to here (or vice versa?) Do tell!
I love the train! You can walk around as much as you want; grab a snack at the snack bar; watch a movie (or several, lol); play cards or games in the viewing car; take naps and sleep! Just make sure to bring LOTS of pillows for comfort at night. Oh, and earplugs if you're a light sleeper. ;) I think I prefer this over driving! (Other than not having a car when you get to your destination)...
So glad you made it to Utah - can't beat being with family...and I love the look on Addyson's face to begin your trip. That is PRICELESS!!
What an adventure!!! Hope to see you sometime this summer!
